As consumers become more interested in how their food is grown, processed, produced, and ultimately gets to their shopping baskets, the food value chain must do more to engage the consumer and earn their trust. We are seeing consumer-facing traits in gene edited produce, drought resistant corn, and innovation for less food waste in the field, but how can we offer science-based solutions to complex problems if we don’t have the public’s ear or its trust? This session will explore how to connect through shared values and storytelling to find common ground with consumers to earn trust along each step of the food value chain.
